This is an introduction to British Sign Language and a great opportunity to learn some of the basics. You will actively participate in signed conversations with tutor and peers within an enthusiastic, fun and engaging setting.
You will be surprised that the classroom environment is fun, engaging and not taught as a traditional course, but with lots of fun, laughter and motivation developed from tutor and peers to support fun filled learning!

What will I learn on this course?
How to introduce yourself and greet others, use British Sign Language to finger spell and improve your deaf awareness and communication skills. You will learn how to: - Express numbers using BSL - Use a range of vocabulary to describe people, animals and objects - Use BSL sentence structure appropriately - Improve your finger spelling to support communication

Is this course suitable for me?
- A small amount of signing skills or experience is advantageous. Learners should have a basic awareness of the BSL alphabet. However, all learners will be taught the skills required and supported throughout their learning. - Learners are fully supported to achieve their goals and we strive to be an inclusive provider - Learners need to be aware that there will be some homework set and individual research to undertake as part of their personal development

What could I go on to do after this course?
This is an introduction course and learners are positively encouraged to progress onto the Using British Sign Language to hold simple conversations. Learners will be given the opportunity to meet with a Programme Information Co-ordinator to discuss this further.
