Description

Whether you would like to learn new creative skills or to investigate the possibility of a new language based career, MAE Community Learning courses can provide you with a stepping stone to progress

This course is aimed at those who can communicate confidently in a wide range of everyday situations including making arrangements, describing activities in all tenses, as well as answering general enquiries. This course will be delivered following an outline providing plenty of class activities and self-study opportunities Whilst gaining knowledge of all aspects of French culture, consolidating speech with numerous phonetical exercises and learning strategies to continue learning outside of the classroom. Grammatical ponts will also be covered incuding the imediate past, the gerunds , the conditional and the introduction of the subjective.
It would be preferable to have followed a level 3 or 4 course or have an equivalent ability in the language, e.g. a past qualification, such as GCSE or O/A level.
  

What will I learn on this course?
Learners will confidently use the present, past and future tenses in a wide range of situations such as: 1.How to write at least one letter of thanks and express gratitude. 2.How to follow instructions and make at least two recommendations. 3.How to explain problems, how to complain and how to deal with at least one complaint.

This course is aimed at those who can communicate confidently in a wide range of everyday situations.

Is there anything I need to know about the course?
Bring pen and paper, a folder with dividers is useful for notes and handouts. Additional learning materials will be made available on the Moodle website (www.macls.com) Time spent between lessons on the language is beneficial: watching films or TV, listening to the radio and music in the language. Homework will be set on a weekly basis to consolidate class activities. Various learning strategies will be used to address learners’ needs ranging from pair and group work, around the table participation, role plays, activities in all 4 skills.

Will there be additional costs?
A Voici course book will need to be purchased and possibly a dictionary.

Attendance Policy
In order to get the most out of your course you will need to attend as many sessions as possible. We recommend at least 85%. If you do have a holiday booked during term time please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcomes. If you are unavoidably ill or unable to attend please contact 01634 338400 so that we can let your tutor know, and so they can send you any work you may have missed.
